台湾体育运动大学文化艺术访问团演出“印象台湾”

台湾体育运动大学文化艺术访问团于2014年5月13日晚7点在Bellevue的Meydenbauer Center隆重演出“印象台湾”。

国立台湾体育运动大学自1996年创立舞团,每年定期举办国内外舞蹈巡回展演,曾三度受邀参加双十国庆大会开幕表演,参与国际知名导演张艺谋导演的大型景观格局《图兰朵公主》世界巡回首演,以及建国百年国庆歌舞剧《梦想家》的演出,两度参加日本北海道《Yosakoi Soran Matsuri》演出,成果促成舞蹈艺术交流而蜚声国际。

“汉字复兴国际促进会”筹备委员会成立

2014年4月30日在西雅图海城大酒店,由知名汉字汉语专家徐德江教授倡导和发起的“汉字复兴国际促进会”筹备委员会举行会议,参加会议的人员有:徐德江教授,李国祥(Benjamin Lee), 李程天(Tim Lee),韩劲松,徐夏秋,苏小元,美西枫(Mary Chen),葛子昂,侯安娜,韩静华,刘亚娟(Susan Liu)等。会议商讨《汉字复兴国际促进会》的组建,性质,目标,任务和章程,任命徐德江、李国祥、李程天、韩劲松为主任委员。

汉字承载着几千年的中华文明,是中华民族智慧的结晶和无价的瑰宝。汉字被誉为中国的第五 大发明,汉字是科学,易学,智能型,国际性,艺术性的文字。把毕生精力都投入了汉字语言学研究,如今已经80岁高龄的徐德江教授,此次来美国先后在微软公 司,西北中文学校,中国商会,台北经济文化中心,西雅图中文电台等地方进行宣讲,教授如何更科学的学好汉字,所到之处受到了热烈的欢迎。

西雅图市长艾德穆雷招聘西雅图地标保护委员会以及国际特殊评审区域委员会成员

西雅图市长办公室今天发布新闻,艾德穆雷市长(Edward Murray)目前正在寻找两名成员,加入西雅图地标保护委员会(Seattle’s Landmarks Preservation Board),另外他也在寻找国际特殊评审区域委员会(International Special Review District)的候选人, 详情如下。

Mayor Murray seeks candidates for International Special Review District Board

SEATTLE – Mayor Ed Murray invites the public to apply for an open position on the International Special Review District Board, the official board that reviews façade alterations, signs, new construction, changes of use, and street improvements within theInternational Special Review District located in the Chinatown/International District. An elected position – Position #3 – Business Person, Property Owner, or Employee – has become vacant and, in accordance with the Board’s Rules and Procedures, is filled through a Mayoral appointment.

Individuals who live in the District, serve as a member of a community organization within the District, or demonstrate active interest in the community and in historic preservation are eligible and encouraged to apply. Candidates for the vacant seat are not required to be a business person, property owner, or employee. The appointee will complete the remainder of the elected term which ends November 30, 2014.

The goals of the seven-member board are to maintain architectural character, cultural heritage, social diversity, and through the use of historic preservation, enhance the economic climate in the International Special Review District. Board meetings are held at 4:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. In addition, board members may be asked to serve on an additional committee as the Board deems appropriate.

The ISRD Board is made up of five elected members and two members who are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by Seattle City Council. The five elected members consist of: two members who own property in the Chinatown/International District, or who own or are employed by businesses located in the Chinatown/ International District; two members who are either residents (including tenants) or persons with a recognized and demonstrated interest in the welfare of the Chinatown/International District community; and one member-at-large.

Applicants must reside within the city of Seattle and should send a letter of interest and resume by Wednesday, May 28.Electronic submissions are preferred, if possible.

Two members sought for Seattle’s Landmarks Preservation Board

SEATTLE – Mayor Edward Murray is seeking two new members to serve on the Landmarks Preservation Board. The 12-member board reviews all landmark nominations, makes recommendations to Seattle City Council for designation of citylandmarks, and reviews all proposed physical alterations to designated features of landmark properties. These recent openings are for the Real Estate position and a Historian position.

The Landmarks Board is composed of two architects, two historians, one structural engineer, one representative each from the fields of real estate and finance, one member from the City Planning Commission, a Get Engaged member (for young adults ages 18-29), and three members at-large. All appointments are made by the Mayor, subject to City Council confirmation.

Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 3:30 p.m. The architect and historian board members also serve on the Board’s Architectural Review Committee (ARC). In general, board members must commit approximately 10 hours per month to Landmarks Board business.

Interested applicants must be Seattle residents, and board members serve without compensation. Those interested in being considered should send a letter of interest and resume by June 2, 2014. Electronic submissions are preferred, if possible.

为让侨胞在海外也能有机会欣赏台湾各地美景及风土民情,侨务委员会特举办2014年「台湾之美」水彩画画展,由知名水彩艺术大师陈阳春先生提供40幅画作,在美国10处华侨文教服务中心巡回展出。画作内容包括城市生活、乡村风情、山海美景、民俗信仰等,呈现台湾丰富多样的文化内涵。本次展览期间将自2014年5月起至11月底巡回全美,首站为西雅图华侨文教服务中心,随之依序为金山湾区华侨文教服务中心、洛杉矶华侨文教服务中心等10个中心。

侨务委员会为协助美西地区侨营餐饮业提升经营实力,并配合推动台湾美食国际化,营销台湾美食品牌形象,订于5月19日至23日在西雅图,办理「2014年美西地区台湾美食厨艺巡回讲座」。本次活动将于西雅图图书馆示范凉拌菜、波音公司推广卤肉饭、咸酥鸡等,并对侨营餐馆提供经营咨商辅导,有关活动相关信息,请洽西雅图华侨文教服务中心。本次讲座活动特聘请侨光科技大学餐饮管理系主任洪文发及助理讲师方元钿2人,至西雅图进行厨艺教学示范及餐馆咨商辅导,洪主任曾任新竹国宾大饭店副主厨,多 次担任国宴制作,并荣获2012年新加坡国际美食大赛中餐筵席御厨争霸赛金牌奖等多项国际竞赛殊荣,并担任本会「2012年南非地区台湾美食厨艺巡回讲 座」、「2010年亚洲中餐厨艺巡回讲座」及「2008年北美洲台湾美食课程巡回辅导」等讲座讲师,厨艺精湛,受侨营餐馆及侨胞之肯定与欢迎。
