Summary of CRS Talk: The first and still only Chinese radio station in Seattle (and the Pacific Northwest), Chinese Radio Seattle (CRS) is an emerging voice in the growing and increasingly influential Chinese media in the United States. Founded on a shoestring by University of Washington MBA student Xiaoyuan Su in 2012, CRS now has nearly 50 DJ’s, editors, and staff. CRS produces 3 hours of daily original programming on AM 1150 and makes its content available 24/7 through the new media outlets of Facebook, Weibo, WeChat, Mobile App, Newsletter, and YouTube. CRS also organizes and sponsors local events, including the ‘Don’t Bother if You’re Not Sincere’ singles party each month. Bio of the Speaker: Founder and CEO Xiaoyuan Su, hosts three radio programs weekly, including the popular ‘American Stories’ featuring local Chinese celebrities, community leaders, elected officials, artists, and business owners. Dr. Su holds a PhD in Computer Science, a Masters ECE, and an MBA, and has published multiple articles on data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Prior to 2002, Xiaoyuan was a freelance writer in China and published the novel ‘Seagull over the West Lake’. He is a graduate of Zhejiang University (1995) and lectured at Suzhou University until 2002.
