独家专访华州副州长候选人Marty McClendon:身为房地产经纪人、牧师、电台主播的他,愿意代表华州大多数人的利益

华盛顿州副州长候选人Marty McClendon是一名房地产经纪人、牧师、电台(AM 1590, Eyes on Washington Radio)主播,他还是三个孩子的父亲。他曾两度参选美国联邦国会议员,现在竞选华州副州长。在今年8月的初选中,尽管他几乎没有举办任何筹款活动,但是他意外地击败了10名竞选对手,高票进入大选。在民主党选民占多数的华州,Marty目前和他的竞选对手、民主党人Cyrus Habib的民调持平,并有小幅领先。华州副州长同时也是州参议院的议长,并在州长外出的时候,代理州长的职务。即将退休的现任副州长Brad Owen在华人社区中很受欢迎,Marty表示,他愿意更加接近华人社区。

小元:各位听众朋友,今天我们非常有幸地请到华盛顿州副州长候选人Marty McClendon,Marty,您好!

Marty:谢谢。

小元:我们知道Marty是做房地产的,他出生在华盛顿州的东部,他既是一名房地产的商人,也是一名牧师,还是一家电台的主持人,他还是三个孩子的父亲,他曾经参选过美国国会议员,现在在参选华盛顿州的副州长,他在初选的时候,高票进入了大选。Marty您如果当选副州长的话,您的主要政见是什么?

Marty: 我非常想要改变州政府的现状,现在州政府的现状是州政府现在只代表少数人的利益,我要代表更多人的利益,更多普通老百姓的利益。我最想做的事情是更多地接触各种人,把所有的人团结起来,制定一个共同的目标,然后朝着这个共同的目标一起来努力。

小元:我们知道Marty您从大选的一开始支持川普作为共和党的总统候选人,您为什么能在川普的支持率比较低的情况下也支持川普呢?

Marty:我们现在如果关注民调的话,唐纳德.川普的民调也是越来越高,今年的总统大选非常非常地重要,因为我们美国联邦最高法院缺席一位大法官,第二是美国现在面临非常严重的安全问题,因为伊斯兰国非常猖獗,第三是美国的经济非常的不景气,作为一个总统,必须要非常有能力改变现状,也有能力让美国变得越来越好。我相信川普能够胜任。

小元:为什么华州的选民应该选您,而不是您的竞选对手Cyrus,作为下一任的华州副州长?

Marty:我是个接地气的人,我是个支持商业、支持家庭的人,而Cyrus想要增加税收,想要更加严苛地赋税;Cyrus只代表一小部分人的利益,而我是代表大多数人的利益,我想要让所有人的价值都体现出来,让所有人的声音都被听到,所以和Cyrus相比,我更胜任副州长的职位。

小元:我们知道即将退休的欧文副州长在华人社区非常受欢迎,如果您当选副州长的话,您是否会像欧文副州长那样,支持华人社区?

Marty:感谢华人社区对美国多元化的文化的贡献,华人非常地勤劳,也非常地看重家庭。我是牧师、电台主播、商人,我非常乐于与人打交道,和不同文化背景的人打交道。我会和欧文副州长一样、甚至比他更加接近华人社区。

小元:在我们采访结束的时候,您是不是给我们的听众说一句话,比如说您的竞选口号?

Marty:我的竞选Logo和超级英雄的Logo非常像,如果大家感兴趣的话,可以到我的网站看一下,我最想要做的事情是要改变。在华盛顿州的历史上,没有一位是来自于华州东部的人士担任副州长,而我是华州东部长大的,我是独特的,我想和各方面的人建立关系,我想要代表最广泛的人民群众。希望能够得到大家的支持。

Introduction: Republican Marty McClendon is a real estate agent, and a part-time pastor, the host of a local talk-radio problem. Marty McClendon was raised on a farm in Eastern Washington. He is a humble, kind and considerate family man. He and his wife have three children.
1) Welcome Marty to our show, how is your campaign going?
2) How could you raise four children and being a real estate agent, a part-time pastor, and the host of a local talk-radio at the same time?
3) some people believe that Lt. Governor is ceremonial position, why did you decide to run for it?
4) We know that you won the primary election without raising noticeable money, how did you manage to make it to win the primary?
5) this year, Seattle Times did not endorse any candidate for the Lt. Governor position, they gave the following reasons:
“Republican Marty McClendon is a conservative pastor and talk-radio show host who has never been in the state Legislature and would have to begin his political education from scratch” and
“Sen. Cyrus Habib, D-Bellevue, has been a legislator for three years but campaigned in the primary in a disturbingly, highly partisan way, making promises he cannot keep. He suggested he would declare unconstitutional those laws he felt contradicted previous court rulings. He said he wouldn’t sign a Senate bill on education if he didn’t believe it fulfilled the Supreme Court’s McCleary rulings”
what’s your comments?
6) the retiring Lt. Governor Brad Owen has held the job for 20 years. His tenure has been marked by a shrewd fairness and humble commitment to the institution, what’s your comments about Mr. Owen?
7) we know that you are the only statewide candidate who is still supporting Donald Trump as president. Why do you insist to support Mr. Trump even when he faced serious scandals during his campaign?
8) what’s your comments about Trump’s comments about assaulting women and FBI’s probe on Clinton’s email server?
9) there are reports that you will fight against state income taxes and unnecessary regulations on businesses, can you tell us more about this?
10) what are your main points about jobs and education for the state?
11) there are homeless issues especially in the city of Seattle, what will you do to solve the homeless problem?
12) briefly tell us about your belief, not in a preaching way, why it’s important?
13) the retiring Lt Governor Owen is quite popular in the Chinese community in Seattle and in the Washington State, would you support the Chinese community in a similar way if you are elected as the next Lt. Governor?
14) why voters should vote for you as the next Lt. Governor instead of your opponent Cyrus Habib?
